Prominent teammate for Raphael Kofler

Raphael Kofler signed with Cagliari Calcio a week ago and has already played in a friendly match for the Serie A club against Union Berlin. Now the South Tyrolean defender will have a prominent teammate at the Serie A club.

Daniel Maldini has joined Cagliari on loan from Atalanta. The club managed by Kofler has thus beaten out several other clubs in the race to sign the son of Milan legend Paolo. At just 24 years old, Maldini has already made 102 Serie A appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists.

Maldini has yet to shake his reputation as a perennial talent. However, his signing opens up entirely new possibilities for Cagliari's attack. Following the loan, the 1970 Italian champions will reportedly have an option to buy Maldini, who has previously played for Milan, Spezia, Monza, Atalanta, and Lazio, for eight million euros.
