Scott McTominay keeps Serie A exciting

The Serie A top match between Inter and Napoli ended in a draw. Nevertheless, there was a clear hero.

Scott McTominay's brace led Napoli to a 2-2 draw against Inter. While the Nerazzurri remain top of the table, their lead over Milan and Napoli is now only three and four points respectively. McTominay twice equalized after Inter had taken the lead, first from Federico Dimarco and then from Hakan Calhanoglu (penalty).

Former Inter coach Antonio Conte protested loudly about the penalty and was sent to the stands with a red card. This didn't sit well with the home fans, who hurled insults at their former manager. As a result, Conte didn't watch McTominay's equalizer from the bench. The Scot had initially set up Napoli's first goal with a misplaced pass but later reacted like a champion.

McTominay scored both goals with volleys at the near post. The 29-year-old, who joined from Manchester United in the summer of 2025, is the best box-to-box midfielder in Serie A and has scored 21 goals in 63 appearances for Napoli. That equates to an average of one goal every three games – an excellent rate for a central midfielder.

Milan scores another late point

Despite some good moments in his first start for AC Milan, Niclas Füllkrug was unable to find the net. In the match against relegation-threatened Fiorentina, Max Allegri's team salvaged a late 1-1 draw. Former Bundesliga top scorer Christopher Nkunku, who came on as a substitute, scored the equalizer in the 90th minute. The Rossoneri had already dropped points in their previous match, a 1-1 draw against Genoa.
