Serie A club is pursuing a South Tyrolean player

Raphael Kofler of FC Südtirol has been linked with various Serie A clubs for some time. Now, an Italian first-division club is also interested in another South Tyrolean player.

According to multiple media reports, US Lecce are showing strong interest in Simone Zanon. The 24-year-old is currently under contract with Serie B club Carrarese Calcio and has made 54 appearances in the second division so far. This season, Zanon has contributed two goals and three assists in 19 games for the Tuscan side.

Lecce coach Eusebio Di Francesco is reportedly a big supporter of Zanon and wants to bring the Sinicher native to Puglia during this winter transfer window. Lecce are currently in a relegation spot in Serie A and need reinforcements on the right flank. Zanon plays as a winger in a back three for Carrarese.

Zanon was trained in the youth academies of FC Südtirol and Napoli. The attacking defender then made his way into professional football via Serie D. With Carrarese, he achieved promotion from Serie C to Serie B in 2024. Now, the next step in Zanon's career could be on the horizon.
