Striker arrives: Milan digs deep into their pockets

The most expensive transfer so far during the World Cup is complete.

Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos is transferring from Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain to Italian club AC Milan for a fee of nearly €75 million. Both clubs announced the transfer two days before Portugal's World Cup round of 32 match against Croatia (Friday, 1:00 AM CEST/Magenta TV).

Other World Cup transfers exceeding the €50 million mark so far have been the signings of Spaniard Marc Cucurella (to Real Madrid) and Dutchman Jan Paul van Hecke (to Tottenham Hotspur). Shortly before the tournament began, England international Anthony Gordon had already moved from Newcastle United to FC Barcelona for around €80 million.
