Udinese sends Cannavaro away

Fabio Cannavaro was on the sidelines for Udinese for 6 games. Now the world footballer from 2006 is history again at the Serie A club from Friuli.

“I would have liked to have continued,” was Fabio Cannavaro’s first comment after his departure from Udinese was announced. The 2006 World Cup captain expressed his displeasure about the lack of a contract extension on social media. Cannavaro came to Udine as a firefighter at the end of the season and managed to keep the club in Serie A.

Apparently that wasn't enough to confirm him in the coaching bench. Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo informed Cannavaro on Saturday that he was no longer counting on his services. “I would still like to thank you for the opportunity that was given to me. I'm sorry that our journey doesn't continue. “It was a tough but very emotional few weeks,” concluded Cannavaro.
