Runners-up Inter returned to winning ways in Serie A on Sunday evening.

After two consecutive league defeats, Inter defeated newly promoted Sassuolo 2-1 at home. Federico Dimarco and Carlos Augusto scored the goals for Inter, before former Serie B star Walid Cheddira made the game at San Siro exciting again shortly before the final whistle. Inter's home victory was ultimately deserved.
What else happened? Atalanta coach Ivan Juric, who is already under fire, led the Bergamo club to a 3-0 victory at his former club Torino. Como, under coach Cesc Fabregas, beat Fiorentina 2-1 with a goal in stoppage time. Napoli could then take the lead with a home win against Pisa on Monday.

The Rome derby was already scheduled for Sunday afternoon, ending in a narrow 1-0 victory for AS Roma. Besides the sporting aspect, there were also heated scenes: two red cards were handed out against Lazio. Reda Belahyane received a red card in the 86th minute for a harsh foul, and Matteo Guendouzi was sent off at the final whistle after loudly complaining about the referee.
