Toothless Napoli take a point with

On Saturday evening, a somewhat unconvincing Napoli had to share the points with Como.

At least the defending champions managed to avert a painful scenario: Had Napoli lost their away game against Como on Saturday evening, Inter would have been uncatchable at the top of the table and thus would have been crowned champions early. As it was, the Partenopei were able to salvage something positive from the lackluster 0-0 draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on matchday 35.

Otherwise, there was little cause for celebration for the traveling fans of the four-time champions: the visitors only threatened twice during the hard-fought goalless draw in Lombardy. In the 26th minute, Alisson Santos fired the first shot on goal, and in the 84th minute, Matteo Politano's second and final Napoli chance of the match struck the left post. Como, meanwhile, had more of the possession, but Nico Paz and his teammates lacked the necessary clinical finishing in the final third.

Como hopes for a slip-up, Inter have a match point

Neither team ultimately put up much of a fight for a point. With three matchdays remaining, Napoli (2nd/70 points) seems virtually guaranteed Champions League qualification, holding an eight-point lead over fifth place. Meanwhile, Como – currently in fifth place with 62 points – increased the pressure on Juventus (4th/64). The Old Lady faces Hellas Verona at home on Sunday (6:00 PM).

Just a few hours later, Inter could already be crowned champions. Ahead of their home game against Parma (8:45 pm), the Nerazzurri are clearly at the top of the table with 79 points; a draw would be enough to secure their 21st league title in club history.
