FCS coach Bisoli: A unique example in modern football

After only three points from the last five games, FC Südtirol wants to return to winning ways in the first match after the international break on Saturday. But it won't be an easy task when playing in Cremona. The Serie A relegated team has scored eight points from four games since taking over from former FCS coach Giovanni Stroppa. “I don’t have a good record against Stroppa and I’ve never won,” smiled Bisoli at the final PK on Friday in Rungg.

But not only Stroppa will meet his old love on Saturday, but also his counterpart: Bisoli coached Cremonese from March 2020 to January 2021. The FCS trainer looks back fondly on this time: “I had a lovely time there and a wonderful relationship with those in charge. We still write to each other. I wasn’t angry about my dismissal back then, but I made too many mistakes in the second season.”

A special time Bisoli has already had various positions in Italian professional football. The 56-year-old only worked in Cremona for 10 months, but it was still a special time: “Especially from a human perspective. It was in the middle of the most precarious Covid times. At the training ground we constantly heard the sirens and saw another dead person being transported away. Rare values in professional football The FCS coach maintains a special relationship with several of his former clubs and their fans. Before his position at FC Südtirol, for example, he led Cosenza to relegation. Last year, the southern Italian fans wanted to meet Bisoli before the game when he returned and thank him for his work. The supporters have a keen sense of who really lives football and who just wants to make themselves important.

Even if Bisoli is not necessarily a welcome guest in some Italian stadiums (for example in Bari) due to his short-tempered nature, he is often still adored by the supporters of his former club. Bisoli lives values such as total dedication, loyalty and straightforwardness, which are often missing in today's football. His style on the sidelines often makes him unpopular, but on the other hand it is also authentic. No wonder that his son Dimitri Bisoli is already celebrated as an icon in Brescia after he assured the club of loyalty even after the threat of relegation to Serie C.

The FCS staff FC Südtirol will have to continue to be without Silvio Merkaj against Cremonese, who has not yet been able to train fully with the team. Gabriel Lunetta will be out for three weeks with an ankle injury. Nicola Rauti and Daniele Casiraghi are fit again, although the FCS top scorer cannot yet play from the start. Juve newcomer Daouda Peeters, however, could make his starting eleven debut in central midfield on Saturday.
