The big highlight game of FC Südtirol

In terms of name alone, Sampdoria is probably the biggest club in Serie B and one of the most popular clubs to ever visit the Drusus Stadium. This is the first time that the 1991 Italian champions will play a competitive game in South Tyrol. Sampdoria's glorious history is undisputed: the club from Genoa was crowned national cup winner four times and European Cup winner in 1990. But the glory days for the Blucerchiati are long gone.

In the summer, the club from Liguria was relegated to the second division for the first time in 12 years. City rivals Genoa, however, took the opposite route and celebrated their return to Serie A. A big blow for every Sampdoria fan. Even if the team is coached Andrea Pirlo and the South Tyrolean striker Manuel DeLuca is only in 16th place, the average attendance of almost 22.000 at every home game speaks volumes. Only Palermo (25.500) can beat this.

FC Südtirol's home game against Sampdoria is not yet completely sold out. There are still remaining tickets available at the stadium ticket offices on Saturday. However, it can be assumed that the Drusus Stadium will be full for the first time this season (5.500). For the highlight game against the relegated Serie A side, the FCS only has to claim Gabriel Lunetta injured.

Merkai returns Silvio Merkaj, who already contributed two goals and three assists this year, is back and, according to Bisoli, could be of help as a substitute. “Merkaj is still far from 100 percent after his long injury,” said the FCS coach on Friday at the final PK in Rungg.

On the other hand, Daouda Peeters, who made his starting eleven debut in the win in Cremona, puts a smile on Bisoli's face: “He said during the week that everything hurts him (laughs). He was unable to train normally until Wednesday. But that's normal after such a long time in which he hasn't played and it's a good sign. I'm so happy for him.” The Belgian is expected back in midfield alongside Fabian Tait on Saturday against Sampdoria.
