FC Südtirol has a new midfielder. Simone Tronchin joins FCS from Serie B relegated side Cittadella.

FC Südtirol has reached an agreement with Cittadella on the permanent signing of Simone Tronchin. The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the White-Reds, running until June 30, 2028, with an option for a further season.

Simone Tronchin was born on October 17, 2002, in Montebelluna, in the province of Treviso. His football education began in his hometown of Caselle d'Altivole, before joining the renowned Calcio Montebelluna talent factory at the age of just 15. There, at just 16, he made the leap to senior football in Serie D.

In September 2020, Tronchin moved to the then Serie B club Vicenza. In his first season, he played primarily for the Primavera 2 team, but made his debut in the Italian Cup and Serie B in the same season.

From the D series upwards

In the following two seasons, he played on loan for Virtus Verona in Serie C to gain valuable professional football experience. Tronchin made a total of 2021 competitive appearances for the Red and Blues in the 22/2022 and 23/54 seasons, scoring three goals. After returning to Vicenza, he played 2023 Serie C league games in the 24/24 season, as well as five playoff games and three Serie C Cup matches.

At the beginning of last season, Tronchin joined Serie B club Cittadella, for whom he made 23 appearances and scored two goals during the season.
