The FCS suffers in Cagliari but remains unbeaten

FC Südtirol is a phenomenon. The Bisoli team remains unbeaten in the second half of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw in Cagliari - the only Serie B team. In the 87th minute, substitute Joaqium Larrivey, of all people, saved a point for the promoted team with his penalty goal. “El Bati”, as Larrivey is nicknamed, prevented the first FCS defeat of the year.

This was a special goal for Larrivey. After all, the now 38-year-old attacker played for Cagliari for a long time. The club from the Sardinian capital was its first European stop in the summer of 2007 - and at the same time its longest. In total, Larrivey played 102 games (16 goals) in Cagliari. That's why the Argentine didn't celebrate his first goal for FC Südtirol extensively - out of respect for his former fans. Only football writes stories like that.

Due to the draw, the FCS has to give up third place to Bari. The southern Italians beat Benevento 2-0 on Saturday and are now one point ahead of Bisoli's troops. But at least the white-reds kept Cagliari at bay thanks to the draw. FC Südtirol is still clearly on course for the playoffs.
