The first promotions in Italian professional football

This weekend the time has come: the first two promoted teams in Italian professional football have been determined.

The detour from U.S. Sassuolo The move to Serie B was only a short one. The Neroverdi promptly made their way back to Italy's top flight. Sassuolo fielded a truly star-studded team for the second division, led by European champion Domenico Berardi. With five games remaining, Berardi and his team are 16 points ahead of third-placed Spezia.


With 73 goals, Sassuolo boasts by far the best offense in Serie B. Fabio Grosso's team can now prepare for Serie A. Things are also looking good for Pisa. Filippo Inzaghi's team is currently seven points ahead of Spezia. The Tuscan club last played in Italy's top flight in 7.

Virtus Entella was promoted to Serie B.


The first promoted team in Serie C has also been confirmed.In the B-Series, Virtus Entella With two games remaining, the club from Chiavari (a town in Liguria with a population of 30.000) plays its home games at the Stadio Comunale, which seats around 4.000 spectators and is thus smaller than the Drusus Stadium. The club's name is derived from the Entella River. The traditional club last played in Serie B in the 2020/21 season.
