a Serie B

Raphael Kofler scored his first Serie B goal.

FC Südtirol: Hope only briefly arises

FC Südtirol is still in the biggest crisis since it started playing in Serie B. The white and reds also had to admit defeat against newly promoted Juve Stabia on Friday evening.

The FCS lost 1-2 in Castellammare di Stabia (on the Gulf of Naples). The home team were not much better than FC Südtirol, but deserved the win in the end. This means that South Tyrol's only professional club has only picked up one point from the last eight games. In this form, staying in the league will be a herculean task.

One of the best on the field on Friday was Leonadro Candellone. The 27-year-old played 39 times for FC Südtirol in Serie C and scored 8 goals. Candellone scored early on against his former club. Juve Stabia had also not won 7 times in a row before that.

Raphael Kofler scores for the first time

Raphael Kofler equalized for FCS in the 73rd minute. The Rabland native scored his very first goal in Serie B – in his 26th game. The 19-year-old had recently scored a similar goal for Italy's U20 team: Kofler was there with his foot again after a corner. But just 5 minutes later Poluzzi made a mistake and Juve Stabia went back in front.

Afterwards, FC Südtirol was unable to react in front of 19 away fans. The White-Reds' game is currently too harmless and static. Kofler's goal was the first in four games under Marco Zaffaroni.

The highlights

It can't get any worseA very bad start for FC Südtirol: There is no good news even before the game. Masiello is injured during the warm-up and is out, Giorgini takes his place in the starting eleven. After 9 minutes, they fall behind: Adorante is completely free after a cross, but his header is blocked by Poluzzi. Because Ceppitelli cannot get the ball away, Candellone is able to tap in to give the home team the lead.
Kofler, as if out of nowhereAfter a corner, Kofler beats Folino in the 73rd minute and scores the equalizer with a volley into the near corner.
Now Poluzzi also makes a mistakeAfter a corner, Poluzzi comes out of the goal too late and is anticipated by Bellich. The defender scores with his head to make it 2-1. Another goalkeeping error for FCS.

In any case, FC Südtirol's next game is next Saturday with a home match against newly promoted Mantova. It is doubtful whether Zaffaroni will still be on the bench then.
