FC Südtirol acquires talent from Atalanta

FC Südtirol has made a splash in the transfer market. On Tuesday, the second-division club announced a new signing – an attacking talent from Bergamo.

Jonathan Italeng Ngock is a new player for FC Südtirol. The White-Reds have reached an agreement with Atalanta for a one-year loan deal until June 30, 2026. After that, FC Südtirol retains a purchase option, while Atalanta has a buy-back option. With the 23-year-old, FCS brings a significant amount of talent to its squad, which the striker has already impressively demonstrated in Atalanta's youth teams and in Serie C.

Born on August 11, 2001, in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Italeng joined Chievo Verona's youth system in February 2019, at the age of 18. At the start of the 2019/20 season, Atalanta secured his transfer rights and integrated him into the Primavera 1 team. In his first season in Bergamo, Italeng won the Scudetto Primavera and the Super Cup. He also made his debut in the prestigious UEFA Youth League.

Italeng has already scored in Serie C

The following season, the attacker scored nine goals in 26 appearances for the Dea juniors, preparing for his move to professional football. Italeng spent the 2021/22 season, his first in senior football, in Serie C between Taranto and Lecco.

In the 2022/23 season, the young attacker was on loan at Aquila Montevarchi in Serie C, where he scored six goals in 26 league matches. The following season, Italeng began with the U23 team of his parent club Atalanta, for whom he made 16 appearances and scored three goals in the first half of the Serie C championship. He spent the second half of the season on loan at AC Trento, scoring two goals in 17 matches. Last season, Italeng spent the next season on loan at Serie C club Pontedera. In a total of 34 competitive matches, he scored twelve goals in the league and two more in the Serie C Cup.
