Simone Davi was injured while warming up in Modena.

FC Südtirol: The shoe is pinching at the left back

Before the decisive playoff preliminary round game against Reggina on Friday, FC Südtirol is struggling with personnel problems in one position in the squad.

Regular left-back Alessandro Celli continues to suffer from Achilles tendonitis and will return on Friday against Reggina fail again. This is bitter for FC Südtirol: The 29-year-old only moved from Ternana to FCS in the winter and has mostly done well in his 15 appearances so far.

On Friday evening in Modena, his representative, Simone Davi, would have been in the starting line-up for the third time in Serie B. But the 23-year-old from Leifer's bad luck with injuries just doesn't stop: Davi was injured during the warm-up and had tears in his eyes afterwards. “It was a heavy blow for the team,” emphasized coach Pierpaolo Bisoli afterwards. As the FCS announced on Monday, Davi suffered an adductor injury to his right thigh. The length of the downtime should be determined after further investigations. However, a Davi deployment against Reggina is highly unlikely.

Who is playing against Reggina?

Right-footed Pippo De Col had to take Davis' place in Modena at the back left of the back four. This didn't work well in the first half, so Bisoli switched to a 3-5-2 at the break. De Col switched to the right, winger Gabriel Lunetta then occupied the left flank. Let's see how this construction site against Reggina is closed.

By the way: Midfielder Andrea Schiavone has suffered a thigh injury and will be out for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old usually played a subordinate role in the Bisoli system anyway.
