FCS ratings | The "old guard" makes the difference

Plizzari 6,5 A reliable presence, even though he was rarely tested. He appeared very composed and made things look easy. A good debut.

Molina 6,5 He committed a dangerous turnover after ten minutes, but then had everything under control. His throw-in led to South Tyrol's winning goal.

Stivanello 6,5 He put in a solid defensive performance and made a strong case for future opportunities. His cross in the 90th minute led to South Tyrol's winning goal.

Giorgini 7 A flawless performance from the returning player. He has matured into a formidable Serie B defensive leader in Castellammare. Uncompromising and a strong player.

Stable 5 Up until his sending-off, he played a very good game, but then he weakened the team with his completely unnecessary slap against Entella's talented Annoni. The linesman deemed the action violent conduct. FCS had to continue playing with ten men.

Pyyhtia 6 An unremarkable performance from the Finn, who had to be substituted at halftime due to the team being down a man. He had a good free-kick opportunity but was denied by the wall.

Tronchin 6 His strength lies in tackling. Technical finesse is not to be expected from him. He thrives when the game gets dirty – like after the break, when FCS had to play with one man less.

Vasco Lopes 6 A player with enormous potential, but who needs to significantly improve his bite and determination. He always seemed somewhat careless, sometimes even too fond of the ball. Nevertheless, the most dangerous shots came from him. After four minutes, he tested Entella goalkeeper Del Frate; immediately before Stabile's sending-off, his nonchalant curling goal was disallowed due to Merkaj's offside position; and before halftime, defender Previtali prevented South Tyrol from taking the lead through the Cape Verdean newcomer with a header.

Vasic 6 Like Pyyhtiä, he remained on the bench after the break, partly because he already had a yellow card for a hard tackle on Parodi. A promising start, but then inconspicuous.

Bjarkason 6,5 A technically gifted player who, if he stays fit, can bring FC Südtirol a great deal of joy. He repeatedly hinted at his class, such as with his pass to substitute Burnete in the second half. However, he still has plenty of room for improvement. He was substituted for match-winner Simone Davi in the final stages.

Merkai 7 He surprisingly started, especially since the club wants to sell him, and impressed with a passionate performance – just as you'd expect from him. He threw himself at every ball and set up Vasco Lopes' two top chances in the first half. The assist for the disallowed goal by the Cape Verdean newcomer also came from the Albanian, who was offside in that instance. For Davi's winning goal, Merkaj controlled the ball in the penalty area after Stivanello's cross and laid it off for the Leifers player, who scored on the second attempt. Simone Davi (left) scores the winning goal for FCS with a powerful left-footed shot.

Veroli 6,5 He came on at halftime to fill the gap in defense left by Stabile's sending-off. He didn't let anything slip.

Rispoli 6,5 He was expected to start, but only came on in the second half. He gave the first glimpses of his talent. Superb ball control.

Burnete 6 After Bjarkason's brilliant pass, he had a chance to make it 1-0, but his shot went wide. He kept the opposing defense busy and thus relieved some of the pressure.

Simone Davi 7,5 He came on to secure the 0-0 draw. Instead, he scored the jubilant winning goal. A liberating strike. His right-footed shot was blocked, but he fired the ball into the net with his left.

Possanzini 6,5 His new FCS started the match well, but the middle part of the first half offered little in the way of exciting football. Playing with ten men, they displayed time-honored South Tyrolean virtues: heart and passion.
