FCS impressed in Pisa, but the playoff dream is over

FC Südtirol delivered a convincing performance in the penultimate championship game in Pisa. After the final whistle there was still a certain disillusionment.

Now it's fixed: The FCS season will end on Friday evening at the Drusus Stadium with a home game against Palermo. Participation in the playoffs for the second time in a row is no longer possible. This Sunday, the White-Reds in Pisa couldn't get past a 2-2 draw. FC Südtirol remains in 9th place. The direct competitors, Brescia and Sampdoria, have each won and can no longer be caught by the white-reds.

But the disappointment in the FC Südtirol camp is likely to be limited. Direct relegation has been certain since Wednesday. The major goal of the season had already been achieved. One thing is certain: Valente's squad stabilized significantly in the second half of the season. Even without the injured Fabian Tait, Filippo Scaglia and Jasmin Kurtic or the suspended Simone Davi, the FCS impressed in Pisa, especially in the second half.

In the end, the FCS played fully on attack. But the winning goal wouldn't come. What should be highlighted is the performance of Raphael Odogwu, who scored his 9th goal of the season in the second half and could not be contained by the Pisa defense.

Pure excitement in Serie B

Como Calcio missed out on early promotion to Serie A. The Fabregas team couldn't get past a 0-0 draw against Pierpaolo Bisoli's team in Modena. At the same time, Venezia won its home game against Feralpisaló (which was finally relegated) 2-1 with a brace from Joel Pohjanpalo in the last minute. With a home win on the last matchday against Cosenza, Como could still achieve promotion on its own on Friday evening.

Pisa – FCS: The highlights

Pisa leadsNothing actually happens for the first half hour. Then Arrigoni tests Pisa keeper Nicolas from 25 meters. A short time later, on the other side, Tramoni and Arena fail because of Poluzzi. Shortly before half-time, Pisa took the lead after a corner: striker Bonfanti scored with his head.
Molina! The FCS is coming out of the break well. In the 53rd minute, a free kick cross from Casiraghi lands at Molina, who heads it in to equalize.
Odogwu!Crazy, this Odogwu is a force. The striker is on his own after 68 minutes and can only be stopped by a foul in the penalty area. Because Casiraghi has already been replaced, Odogwu steps in himself and confidently converts into the bottom right corner.
Pisa equalizes5 minutes after the FCS lead, Pisa equalized again with a corner. Moreo is there after a ping-pong goal and scores to make it 2-2.
