FCS before the cracker: Good and bad news

FC Südtirol is facing the weeks of truth. Before the international break, the White-Reds want to collect important points in the relegation battle. The omens before the home game against Cremonese are not exactly easy.

The FCS is facing fantastic weeks. On Saturday (14 p.m.) second-placed Cremonese will be visiting the Drusus Stadium. After the international break, we continue on Easter Monday with an away game in Como (4th), before leaders Parma come to Bolzano five days later. The FCS is still 5 points ahead of the relegation zone, but the White-Reds definitely want to pick up a few points against the top teams in the league.

On Saturday, FC Südtirol will have to do without captain Fabian Tait, who will have to serve a yellow card suspension. “We will miss him as a player and personality,” explained coach Federico Valente on Friday at the final PK in Rungg. There are several options for replacing Tait. One, for example, would be to move Salvatore Molina into the attacking midfield and let Hamza El Kaouakibi play on the right wing.

Matteo Rover is back

Someone who would also be considered for the Tait position is Matteo Rover. The 25-year-old has been missing from the FCS since the beginning of November due to a hamstring injury. Under Valente, Rover has not yet played a game for the FCS. He will be back in the squad for the first time against Cremonese. “Matteo is no longer in pain. He is definitely an option for Saturday, but not yet from the start,” said Valente.

As a reminder: Rover contributed 6 goals and 5 assists for the FCS in the previous season. The winger played a major role in FC Südtirol ultimately making it to the playoff semi-finals.

It will also be a special game for Giovanni Stroppa, who will be visiting his former club on Saturday. The Cremonese coach has already coached FC Südtirol twice in the past and has now developed a reputation as a promotion expert in Serie B. From FCS's perspective, Tait and Raphael Kofler, who has been ill in the last few days, will not be there.
