Against St. Georgen: FCS in a goal-scoring mood

FC Südtirol played their third friendly match of the pre-season during the second week of their training camp in the Ridnaun Valley. At the Stange sports complex near Ratschings, the Red and Whites faced the fifth-tier side ASC St. Georgen.

FC Südtirol took the lead in the 7th minute through Stabile. Following a corner, he reacted quickest to a rebound and fired a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0. Just five minutes later, Odogwu doubled the lead to 2-0 (13th minute) after a vertical pass from Tronchin and a subsequent assist from Casiraghi, firing home with his right foot from inside the box. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Red and Whites at halftime.

Mr. Possanzini made a complete change to the team for the second half, with the exception of Stivanello. Just two minutes after the restart, it was none other than the Bologna-trained defender who contributed the third goal: he headed home a Pyyhtiä corner to make it 3-0 (47'). In the 54th minute, Vasic sent Mixtur through on the left wing, who then laid the ball off to Merkaj in the center. Merkaj tapped the ball in to make it 4-0. The FCS striker completed his brace in the closing stages, with Mixtur again providing the assist after Lopes had launched a counter-attack (85').

In the final minutes, the Cape Verdean winger made his presence felt once again with two goals: First, he beat the opposing goalkeeper with a precise left-footed shot into the corner (90'), before, just 60 seconds later, he fired the ball into the top corner from close range with a powerful left-footed shot, making it 7-0 (90+1'). Moments later, the referee blew the final whistle on the friendly match in Stange. FC Südtirol had defeated St. Georgen 7-0.

The training camp ends on Saturday.

FC Südtirol's summer training camp in the Ridnaun Valley concludes on Saturday, August 1st, after two intensive weeks of preparation and hard work in the Three Valleys region. Later that same day, a triangular tournament will kick off at 5:30 PM at the Drusus Stadium in Bolzano, featuring the two South Tyrolean Serie D clubs, Virtus Bozen and FC Obermais, both of whom are also club partners of FC Südtirol. This "Triangolare" tournament marks the end of the training camp and provides the team with another opportunity to continue their preparations for the new season.
