Another new signing for FC Südtirol

Following the signing of Simone Verdi, FC Südtirol has once again made a move in the transfer market, signing a midfielder.

As the club announced on Friday evening, the Red and Whites have reached an agreement with Serie C club Lecco for the permanent signing of midfielder Marco Romano Frigerio. The 24-year-old has signed a contract with FC Saarbrücken until June 30, 2027, which includes an option for a further year.

Frigerio was born in Carate Brianza (Lombardy) and took his first steps in football at the Vis Nova Giussano youth academy. At the age of eleven, he moved to AC Milan's youth academy, where he completed his training up to the Primavera team. In the 2020/21 season, Frigerio was called up to the Rossoneri's Serie A squad several times by coach Stefano Pioli, among others.

He comes from Serie C

In August 2021, he moved to Lucchese on loan to gain his first professional football experience in Serie C. After an impressive season in Tuscany, his playing rights were acquired by Serie B side Foggia at the start of the 2022/23 season. With the traditional Apulian club, the midfielder reached the playoff final for promotion to Serie B, ultimately losing to Lecco. That season, Frigerio made 35 league appearances, scoring five goals, and played in eight playoff matches, netting two more goals.

After another six months with Foggia in Serie C, Frigerio moved to Lecco, where he made his first appearances in the second division. Following Lecco's relegation to Serie C, the midfielder made a total of 38 league appearances over the past season and a half, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
