FC Südtirol and Lecce have agreed to sign Rares Burnete. The 22-year-old Romanian striker will join the Red and Whites on loan until June 30, 2027. The agreement also includes an option to buy for FC Südtirol and a buy-back clause for the Serie A club.
Burnete was born in Sighișoara and joined Lecce's youth academy in 2020. There he developed into a key player for the Primavera team, with whom he won the Italian league title in 2023. That season he scored 19 goals in the regular season championship.
Set up goal in Serie A debut
Burnete also scored in double figures in the Primavera 1 championship during the 2023/24 season. In the same season, the striker also made his debut in the prestigious UEFA Youth League and made his Serie A debut on the opening day against Lazio.Just four minutes after coming on as a substitute at the Stadio Via del Mare, he set up Lecce's winning goal, making it 2-1. The following season, Burnete became a regular member of the first team squad, making four more appearances in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia.
Juve Stabia only scored two goals
Last summer, Burnete moved to Juve Stabia in Serie B to gain further experience in professional football. He made 28 appearances for the "Wasps," scoring two goals. The striker has represented Romania at various youth levels and has been a member of the U21 national team since 2023.“My arrival at FC Südtirol fills me with great joy. I am convinced that this is the right step for my career and hope to help the team achieve its goals. My teammates, whom I already knew, spoke very positively about the environment and the club,” Burnete explained.
Mamadou Coulibaly is leaving the club after just one season.
Mamadou Coulibaly, however, will be leaving the club. The 27-year-old midfielder is transferring permanently to Foggia. Coulibaly joined FCS in the summer of 2025 and made 14 appearances last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
FCS's rising star Raphael Kofler, meanwhile, is moving to Cagliari in Serie A. (see own message).
