Pyyhtiä already played for FC Südtirol in the second half of the 2024/25 season. Back then, the Finnish international repeatedly thrilled fans at the Drusus Stadium and, with four goals and three assists, played a key role in the team's survival in the Serie A. Now, Pyyhtiä has been loaned from Serie A club FC Bologna for a full season.
On Thursday, FCS had already signed another defender. But back to Pyyhtiä: The number eight is considered a true box-to-box midfielder and frequently penetrates the opponent's penalty area. The 22-year-old Scandinavian is particularly distinguished by his physicality. Last season, Pyyhtiä was on loan to Modena. However, in 30 Serie B matches (often as a substitute), he failed to register a single goal or assist.
Niklas Pyyhtiä returns to FC Südtirol.
“I am very happy to be able to wear the FC Südtirol jersey again. I felt extremely comfortable here and am therefore full of anticipation to be part of this team again. I can hardly wait to begin this new adventure, to put myself at the service of the team and to give my best for this club,” explained Pyyhtiä, who is expected to successfully kick-start the new FCS era under Davide Possanzini.
