What FCS and Virtus Entella have in common

FC Südtirol is in top form in 2026 and is now only one point away from the playoff zone. Their opponent this weekend, Virtus Entella, shares one similarity with FCS.

FC Südtirol had to wait 13 games for a win under Fabrizio Castori before things improved in the new year. The club, however, always stood by the coach and remained convinced of his approach. The same can be said of Virtus Entella, who visit the Drusus Stadium on Saturday. The club from Chiavari is the only team in Serie B below 12th place that has not yet changed its coach this season.

Andrea Chiappella, 38, took over at the start of the season and is still in charge. Virtus Entella currently sits in 16th place, the relegation playoff spot, which, given the newly promoted team's financial resources, isn't a tragedy. It's well known that not every Italian professional club can maintain this level of stability for so long. Virtus Entella is considered particularly strong at home – partly because they play on artificial turf at their home ground.

Just two months after their crisis, FC Schaffhausen would most likely jump into a playoff spot with a win. "The Serie B championship has repeatedly shown that you shouldn't start dreaming or becoming arrogant. Otherwise, you quickly come crashing back down to earth," explained FC Schaffhausen coach Castori at the final press conference in Rungg on Friday. If anyone knows, it's the 71-year-old. After all, Castori has been on the sidelines in Italy's second division 628 times, making him the record holder.
