Who will be the new FCS coach? Everything points to him

In Advent 2024, FC Südtirol is in shambles. After the dismissals of Marco Zaffaroni and Federico Valente, a third coach is now needed. There is already a top candidate.

Paolo Bravo has done his homework in recent days. Even before he sacked Zaffaroni after the 1:2 defeat to Juve Stabia, he had already sounded out the coaching market for new candidates - and apparently made a choice.

Fabrizio Castori is probably the coach who will save FC Südtirol from relegation to Serie C. The 70-year-old is an enormously experienced coach who has a number of successes to his name. He won the Serie B championship with Carpi in 2015 and led Salernitana to Serie A in 2021. But the truth is that Castori has been relegated from Serie B in the last two years (with Ascoli and Perugia).

FCS winless for 8 games

Castori's move to FCS is not yet official, but everything points to him as the new FCS coach. Bravo put the team together in a 3-4-2-1 (or 3-4-1-2) formation in the summer. Castori likes to use this formation. He also has a lot of experience. He coached in Serie B for the first time in 2004.

The fact is that the new FCS coach has a huge amount of work ahead of him. The white-reds are not only bottom of the table, but have also lost 7 of their last 8 games. The offense is faltering and avoidable goals keep coming in at the back.
