New club: Jonas Heinz feels at home in the south

Sardinia, Marche, Apulia, Campania: Jonas Heinz (23), the professional footballer from Naturns, is clearly feeling at home in southern Italy. The defender has now signed a new contract.

Salernitana has announced the signing of Jonas Heinz. The club from the picturesque port city south of Naples has secured the services of the South Tyrolean, whose contract with Casertana expired in June.

Heinz was subsequently courted by clubs from the third and second divisions. FC Südtirol was also reportedly considering a move to bring him back, at least briefly. In the end, Heinz opted for Serie C club Salernitana. The former first-division team is among the top title contenders in the south and is determined to return to Serie B. The club is currently coached by the iconic Serse Cosmi, considered one of the most charismatic coaches in Italy.

Heinz had a phenomenal season at Casertana, scoring four goals in 24 games. However, the player from the Lower Vinschgau region was repeatedly hampered by injuries, which is why he only managed a total of 70 appearances in Serie C.
