Giacomo Poluzzi experienced the most successful period of his career in South Tyrol – now the goalkeeper has drawn a line under his professional career.

At 38, it's over: Poluzzi ends his career

Giacomo Poluzzi left FC Südtirol in January; now the long-time white-red goalkeeper has ended his professional career – and at the same time opened a new chapter.

Poluzzi made 370 appearances in professional matches. The goalkeeper played 187 of those games for FC Südtirol. He had by far the longest tenure with the club, achieving promotion to Serie B and a historic run to the playoffs. After Marius Adamonis overtook him as the number one goalkeeper, Poluzzi transferred to Ravenna in January 2026.

Poluzzi made twelve appearances for the third-division club, where Manuel Fischnaller is also under contract. Now the goalkeeper has drawn a line under his career.

New chapter: Goalkeeper coach and own football academy

Poluzzi won't be able to stay away from football for long. The 38-year-old has taken a position as goalkeeping coach for the Primavera team at Serie A club Bologna. Poluzzi has also founded the "SharGKs Academy," a football school that will organize and run various camps.

“I want to enable children to find their own personal path. This is the best way for me to pass on the experience I have gained as a professional over the years to the next generation,” said Poluzzi.
