FC Obermais played to a 1-1 draw against the newly merged club LME from Friuli on Wednesday afternoon in front of around 400 spectators at their home ground on the Lahn River. The Merano-based team was dominant, especially in the second half. In the closing stages, substitute striker Manuel Brusco narrowly missed with an overhead kick. A victory was more than achievable, particularly as the visitors posed little threat going forward.

FC Oberhausen started Wednesday's match with a South Tyrolean double pivot of Samuel Villgrattner and Noah Schweitzer. Schweitzer was replaced in the second half by North Tyrolean Kilian Bauernfeind. In central defense, Marco Paulmichl made his comeback after recovering from a pubic bone inflammation. The Vinschgau native replaced the injured Francesco Del Bello at halftime.

Mamadou Ngom scored Obermais's only goal of the day just before halftime. He had been fouled himself before scoring the penalty. Ngom had only joined the team late in the summer and was still lacking match fitness. The returning starter had already played a key role in Merano's survival in the second half of last season.

Virtus has no chance

While Obermais now sits in the table with four points after three matchdays, Virtus Bozen has one point less. The newly promoted side had no chance in their 4-0 away defeat against Luparense on Wednesday. The home team from San Martino di Lupari now has seven points and leads the table.

The decisive factors in the heavy defeat were the two goals scored shortly before and after halftime. For Noah Mayr and his teammates, another tough challenge awaits on Sunday at Talferwiesen against Sandonà. Obermais will be playing away at Conegliano at the same time.
