Obermais at the league leaders: Nothing to lose

FC Obermais faces arguably their toughest challenge of the season on Sunday (15 p.m.). The South Tyrolean side will travel to Treviso to take on the dominant Serie D leaders. However, Obermais has nothing to lose.

With an eleven-point lead and eight league games remaining, Treviso is marching unstoppably towards the championship title. The club will then be promoted to Serie C, and coach Edoardo Gorini (who spent years at Cittadella in Serie B) will have achieved what he set out to do when he joined the club in Italy's fourth division in the summer.

Treviso is a professional club with a high-caliber squad. Key players include 35-year-old Robert Gucher from Carinthia, 16-goal striker Luigi Scotto, and young goalkeeper Rok Vadjunec. The 19-year-old is attracting interest from several Serie B clubs, including FC Südtirol. Furthermore, Treviso boasts the highest average attendance of any team in the league, at around 1.600 spectators.

FC Merano has nothing to lose in Treviso, as very few observers expect them to take any points. This presents a real opportunity for Edoardo Ghiotti and his teammates. Merano demonstrated their ability to compete with the league's top teams just a few days ago against Clodiense. However, serious unforced errors cost them points, and these mistakes are likely to be punished even more severely in Treviso than elsewhere.
