Obermais loses its defensive leader

FC Obermais will have to start their second Serie D season without their defensive leader, Alex Debiasi. The Bolzano native has decided to continue playing in the Oberliga (fifth tier).

Alex Debiasi was a regular starter for FC Obermais. The center-back from Bolzano was the defensive leader and a key player in Flavio Toccoli's team. Now Obermais will have to do without Debiasi in their second Serie D season, as the 27-year-old has decided to take a step back.

What had already leaked a few days ago was officially confirmed on Monday evening. Debiasi is transferring to SSV Naturns and will therefore play in the Oberliga (fifth tier) in the future. Naturns has returned to the regional top division as runners-up in the Landesliga (sixth tier), behind Bruneck.

“I chose Naturns because I felt the enthusiasm, professionalism, and trust shown by the club,” Debiasi said in a statement to his new club. Debiasi played for Obermais for the past three years. Before that, he played for Lana and his youth club, Virtus Bozen.
