Obermaiser kick-off in Este

FC Obermais' historic Serie D debut will take place in Este on Sunday (15 p.m.). The traditional club from the province of Padua will be a tough nut to crack.

They would have hoped for a home game in Obermais, but that didn't happen. The schedule calls for Este to be the Blue-Whites' first opponent in Serie D. An unpleasant opponent who has been playing in Serie D for 21 years (!) and has also impressed in the cup so far – with two wins.

Concentrated fourth-division experience against a newcomer: Obermais' opening match in Este will show where the South Tyroleans stand. Although the FCO has had a taste of Serie D after their two cup appearances, uncertainty remains. However, Obermais considers itself well-equipped for Serie D. They're in good shape, in good form, and euphoria is high.

Some returnees back in the squad

While coach Flavio Toccoli rested key players in the cup matches due to minor injuries, this will no longer be the case. Goalkeeper Luca Tenderini, defensive leader Alex Debiasi, and striker Tizian Stecher return to the squad. Vienna's Armand Smrcka is also fit again and will ply the Obermais central midfield alongside fellow countryman Kilian Bauernfeind.
