"To be or not to be" is one of the most famous literary quotes in the world. The scene from Hamlet's soliloquy deals with the existential question of life and death. While it's not quite as dramatic for FC Obermais as in William Shakespeare's work, the quote is a perfect fit in sporting terms.
The Merano district club will play one of the most important matches in its history on Sunday (16 p.m.) in San Martino di Lupari. For the first time in FC Obermais' 54-year history, the match will determine whether the club has another chance to avoid relegation. The situation is clear: it's a knockout duel. San Luigi or Obermais, only one of them will face Vigasio in the relegation playoff. The loser of Sunday's game will be relegated to the Oberliga.
There must be a winner.
In Obermais, there's confidence that they'll make it through the relegation playoffs. "We firmly believe we'll win the game," said Michael Höller, Obermais' sporting director. Coach Flavio Toccoli's team has recently recorded five consecutive draws. That's a scenario that's unlikely on Sunday. If there's no winner after 90 minutes, the game will go to extra time or even penalties. The last encounter between FCO and San Luigi also ended in a 1-1 draw last Sunday.Serie D: Decisive Match
