Mario Götze is moving to the Netherlands

The 28-year-old, who no longer played a role at Borussia Dortmund, is moving to PSV Eindhoven. German coach Roger Schmidt's club confirmed this late on Tuesday evening. Götze receives a two-year contract with the 24-time champions. “We had some good conversations and I seriously considered a move to the Netherlands afterwards,” said Götze in the official statement. He had a few offers this summer, “but I’m an emotional person and make my own decisions. I feel ready for a new challenge and I am confident that this will be a pleasant change for me,” explained Götze. Most recently, Götze was mainly associated with Hertha BSC. After Berlin's 3-4 last-minute defeat against Bayern Munich on Sunday, coach Bruno Labbadia spoke publicly about a possible commitment. In the Netherlands, the transfer window only closed on Tuesday, but as a player without a club, Götze could have signed with a new club later anyway. The attacking midfielder returned to BVB in the summer of 2016 after three disappointing years at Bayern Munich. He did not receive a new contract there after last season.
