Inter Miami has strengthened its squad in the transfer market: Lionel Messi is getting a prominent new teammate.

Brazilian football legend Casemiro will play alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. The Major League Soccer team announced the signing of the 34-year-old midfielder on Wednesday; Messi knows him well from his time in Spain.

Casemiro played for Real Madrid for a long time, Messi for FC Barcelona. The Brazilian was under contract with Manchester United until the end of June. The five-time Champions League winner is now moving to the USA on a free transfer.

Casemiro has signed a contract with Miami until the end of 2027 with an option to extend until 2029. The Brazilian last played for the Seleção at the World Cup and has 91 international caps. Messi, who missed out on defending his title with Argentina in the final against Spain, is still under contract with Inter until the end of 2028.
