10 podium places for Karate Mühlbach

Yesterday, the final stage of a three-part interregional karate tournament took place in Sedico (BL), in which a total of around 2.700 athletes from north-east Italy took part - including 25 athletes from Karate Mühlbach. At each of the three stages, which are separated by approximately one month, athletes collect points based on their placement. At the third stage, these points are added together to determine who will climb the coveted podium. The value of this tournament therefore lies in the fact that athletes must deliver consistent performances over months; if athletes are unable to participate in one of the three stages due to illness or injury, their chance of a podium finish becomes a distant prospect. "Injuries have taken a heavy toll on us this season, so some of our athletes ultimately didn't achieve the placements they deserved," said coach Martin Pezzei, who is nevertheless pleased with the results from the three stages: In the overall ranking, Karate Mühlbach won three medals in kata (forms competition) and seven medals in kumite (competition). It's worth mentioning that Laura Grünfelder won gold in kata in all three stages; Julia Mair achieved the same feat in kumite with equal authority. Results of yesterday's third stage KUMITE Maria Peintner and Julia Mair won gold, while Florian Fischnaller, Sophie Unterpertinger, Anna Gallmetzer, and Ramón Motta won silver. Lorenz Mantinger, Laura Peintner, and Felix Oberhofer took bronze. Jakob Silgoner and Madleen Unterhuber missed the podium (each finishing fifth). KATA Laura Grünfelder and Sophie Unterpertinger won gold. Silver went to Tobias Erschbaumer, and bronze went to Hannah Bruni, Greta Fischer, and Emilia Bruni.
