A martial arts event of a special kind

The appeal of this international event was precisely the fantastic location with the fighting area right on the lake. Some of the best taekwondo athletes from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Italy, including several national champions, showed impressive competitions in which the outcome was always very exciting right up to the end.

One of the best teams came from the Tyrolean performance center with successful coach Gerhard Huber and Cristina Schönegger from Innsbruck, whose U-18 youth fighters caused a sensation and won the majority of the fights. But the team of former squad athlete Romain Dicken from Luxembourg also showed strength and won several classes.

For the South Tyrolean athletes, Thomas Mittermair, Anna Datz, David Dissertori and Noah Battisti (all ASV Zadra-fighting/rothoblaas) in particular ensured a good performance.

Appearance of the European champion The highlight of the day was the fight between European champion Veith Stöcklein from Germany and local hero and winner of several medals at national and international tournaments Tobias Santer from ASV Zadra-fighting. The referees were Sigi Mai from Germany and Gabriel Marcomin from Kurtatsch, both internationally qualified referees of the WT (World Taekwondo Federation).

Amid loud cheers from the crowd, the European champion managed to win the first round with 9:5 points with a routine fighting style.

After a furious comeback in which Tobias Santer exceeded his own expectations, he was even ahead by 6:4 points at the end of the second round. In the end, the favorite and European champion Veith Stocklein won with 13:11 points and Tobias Santer was able to be happy about his great performance.

The event was accompanied by spectacular demonstrations and breaking tests in all their variations as well as individual, double and team form runs with athletes from Germany and Italy.
