South Tyrol's wrestlers are ready

South Tyrol's wrestlers are well-prepared for the new season. They put the finishing touches on their training at the VSS/Raiffeisen training camp in Terenten, which culminated in a prize wrestling competition. The next highlight is already this Sunday.

Almost traditionally, South Tyrol's young wrestlers from the school and youth classes meet at the VSS/Raiffeisen training camp in Terenten at the start of the season. "Here, our young athletes can prepare themselves perfectly for the new season," explain VSS representative Markus Wolfsgruber and wrestling association chairman Harry Egger. This year, two training sessions were on the program, one on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday morning.

The training sessions were led by Stefan and Markus Wolfgruber, and the wrestlers stayed at the Hotel Tirolerhof. "The shared lunches and dinners, as well as an evening card game, strengthened the camaraderie among the South Tyrolean wrestling clubs," said Egger.

Of particular note this year is the participation of the young wrestlers from the Sarntal Valley, who are aiming for a fresh start for the once widely known Sarntal Wrestling Club and are already well on their way. The VSS (South Tyrolean Wrestling Association) and the South Tyrolean Wrestling Federation wish them the best of luck and the necessary perseverance for this important endeavor. At the final prize wrestling competition in Terenten, the wrestlers from the Passeier and Ahrntal valleys especially shone. A total of four victories went to the Passeier Valley, while the Ahrntal wrestlers celebrated two wins.

By the way: The next highlight in the South Tyrolean wrestling calendar is already scheduled for this coming Sunday, March 29th. The next big VSS/Raiffeisen prize wrestling competition will take place at the Gasthof Haselstaude in St. Martin in Passeier, starting at 13 p.m.
