Taekwondo: Anna Gruber is the U18 Italian champion

The Italian Junior Taekwondo Championships took place in Anzio (Rome) on March 7th and 8th. A total of 371 athletes from all over Italy participated in this national competition.

The Taekwondo South Tyrol – Eurotherm club was represented by three athletes: Nina Verant (-55 kg) and Lena Christoph (+68 kg) from Eppan, and Anna Gruber (-68 kg) from Andrian. The athletes were coached by Milan Guba.

On Sunday, all three athletes competed for the coveted Italian Championship title. The competition was particularly successful for Anna Gruber, who prevailed in the -68 kg weight class and won the Italian Championship title. The 16-year-old student from the Realgymnasium Bozen clearly dominated her category: she won all three fights convincingly with 2-0 rounds. She also delivered a very strong performance in the final, giving her opponent hardly any chance to score points.

The success is no accident: In the sporting year 2025/2026, Gruber has already won two international medals – silver at the Austrian Open and bronze at the Croatia Open.
