Taekwondo South Tyrol successful in Luxembourg

Taekwondo Südtirol Eurotherm participated with four athletes in the Luxembourg Open 2026 international world ranking tournament, which took place on May 23 and 24, 2026 at the d'Coque Centre National Sportif, and achieved strong international results.

On the first day of competition, Anna Gruber impressed in the U18 category in the -68 kg weight class. After strong fights, she achieved an excellent 3rd place and thus secured the bronze medal.

On the second day of competition, Alexander Oberhofer continued his strong international form and once again reached the final of an Olympic and world ranking tournament in the -87 kg weight class. Oberhofer was the number 1 seed at the Luxembourg Open.

In the semi-final, he won convincingly and with great tactical awareness, 2-0 against an athlete from Germany. In the final, Oberhofer faced the 29-year-old Olympian Faysal Sawadogo from Burkina Faso. In a thrilling and high-caliber final match, Oberhofer was narrowly defeated. The two rounds ended 13-15 and 10-12.

The performances shown once again confirm the strong international development of Taekwondo Südtirol Eurotherm. With great motivation and self-confidence, the team is now focusing on the upcoming Italian Championships in Rome, where the athletes aim to compete for top positions once again.
