South Tyrol is looking forward to a bowling highlight

From October 14th to 18th, in about one and a half months, the World Cup – one of the most prestigious international bowling competitions – will be held on the bowling alleys in the Bozen rectory. All national club champions from around the world are eligible to compete in the World Cup. The competitions in Bolzano will mark the 36th edition of this prestigious international event. The defending champions are the German club Rot Weiß Zerbst in the men's category – they have won the World Cup twelve times and are considered the best team in the world – and KK Mlaka from Rijeka, Croatia, in the women's category. In recent years, South Tyrol has also been strongly represented in the men's World Cup. KK Neumarkt, Italy's exceptional club, has qualified for the Final Four several times and was crowned World Cup winner in 2023. This was the greatest club success in the history of the Unterland club to date. Coach Hermann Ludwig's team is aiming for a home victory in October. His bowlers are familiar with the bowling alleys at the Bozen rectory, having won the Italian Cup there countless times. Led by the exceptional talents Vilmos Zavarko (Serbia), Tamás Kiss (Italo-Hungary), and Erik Kuna (Slovakia), they aim to challenge Zerbst's dominance. In the women's competition, the Fugger Sterzing women's bowlers are eligible for the World Cup as Italian champions of the 2024/25 season, and they will certainly seize this opportunity. This means that a South Tyrolean team will be represented in each tournament. The program for the World Cup in Bolzano While the bowlers are slowly getting the 2025/26 season underway, the organizers of the World Cup in Bolzano have been busy planning for months. The program for the competitions in 50 days has already been finalized. The competitions will kick off on October 14 with the referees' meeting and lane inspection, followed by the grand opening ceremony at 20 p.m. The women's and men's qualifying matches will take place on Wednesday, October 15, and Thursday, October 16, with six bowlers per team. The four teams of each gender with the highest total number of pins will then qualify for the semifinals, the Final Four. The semifinals will take place on Friday, October 17. The two women's matches will begin at 11:15 a.m., followed by the men's matches at 18:9 p.m. Saturday, October 13, is the grand final day. The third-place playoffs will begin at 2025:17.15 a.m., followed by the finals, which will determine the XNUMX World Cup winners, starting at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
