KK Neumarkt has been eliminated from the Champions League

The Champions League adventure is over for KK Neumarkt. The bowlers from the Unterland had to admit defeat 3:5 in the second leg of the quarter-finals against defending champions Rot Weiß Zerbst on Saturday. A very strong team performance didn't help either.

The goal of cutting a decent figure and saying goodbye to the competition with dignity was definitely achieved. The team around the recovered captain Wolfgang Blaas achieved the bomb average of 673 pins and both Tamas Kiss and Vilmos Zavarko came over the 718 mark with 712 and 700 pins respectively.

These two also got their first match points against Manuel Weiss and Christian Wilke. Then it was Armin Egger and Erik Kuna's turn for Neumarkt. They played against Tim Brachtel and Robert Ernjesi or Michael Reiter (substitution due to injury). Egger knocked over 649 pins and lost to Brachtel, Kuna managed 679 pins and narrowly got the third point for Neumarkt. In the last two duels, Georg Righi and Wolfgang Blaas had to admit defeat with 624 and 651 pins. In the overall result, Zerbst also led and the defeat was sealed. Progression would no longer have been possible anyway; that would have required at least a 7-1 win.
