Villnöß wins the top duel of the female bowlers

Sarntal is marching towards the championship title. While the Sarntal women won 6-0 against Ridnauntal last matchday, their pursuers Fugger Sterzing stumbled in the top match against Villnöß.

On their home track at the Villnöß leisure center, Nathalie Profanter and her teammates secured a 5-1 victory, extending their lead over Fugger Sterzing to five points. With four match days remaining, Sarnthein now more than control their own destiny: two more wins would clinch the championship. Villnöß showcased his full range of skills. In the first match, Selina Fischnaller faced Sterzing's exceptional player, Gabriele Bürger. Fischnaller capitalized on her home advantage, winning 583-546 (2,5-1,5 in sets). Then, Villnöß' Annalena Obexer extended the lead to 2-0 against Sofia Saxl, winning 556-542 (2-2 in sets).

Sabrina Parigger scored the only point for Fugger in the third match against Jasmin Prader. Parigger achieved 562 pins and won three sets, while Prader managed only 514 pins and won one set. Finally, the two captains, Nathalie Profanter of Villnöß and Marion Thaler of Fugger Sterzing, faced off. Profanter won convincingly with a superb performance of 605 pins, the best of the day, while Thaler scored 562 pins. In the overall result, Villnöß led 2258 to 2212 pins, securing a 5-1 victory.

Gruber's fabulous record Pure bowling madness unfolded last Friday at the Bliegerstadion in Freienfeld. In the Wipptal derby between Fugger Sterzing and the Ridnauntal selection, the match was practically decided before the final duel. But then things took a spectacular turn. Fugger Sterzing's exceptional talent, Reinhard Gruber, stepped onto the lanes and set a new single-lane record with 681 pins.

Reinhard Gruber played sensationally in his match against Reinhard Lechner. He consistently surpassed 170 pins in the first three sets, managing "only" 159 in the final set. Nevertheless, his total of 681 pins is an astonishing achievement, one that very few have reached in the men's A1 class.

At this point, the lopsided derby between Fugger Sterzing and the Ridnauntal selection was practically decided. Christian Kasslatter secured Ridnaun's only point in the first match against Fugger's Christian Manuel Moser with a 584:545 pinfall victory. Then only Sterzing managed to score. First, Stefan Zini defeated Thomas Haller from Ridnaun 603:568, then Thomas Rainer put Fugger in the lead with a 599:569 victory over Johannes Oberhofer. Both times, all the bowlers earned two set points, but both times the Fugger players knocked down significantly more pins and thus secured the team points.

Egon Ralser made short work of Ridnaun's Andreas Gschwenter in the fourth match, winning all four sets 588:536. The score between Manuel Hofer (Fugger Sterzing) and Peter Volgger (Ridnaun) was tied 2:2 in sets, but Hofer had knocked down significantly more pins, winning 583:546. Gruber sealed the victory, and thanks to the better overall score (3599:3343 pins), the final result was 7:1 for Fugger, who are now guaranteed second place.
