From bitter pills to celebrated heroes

The second relegated team in the men's A1 class is Pfalzen. Because the Pusterers have the weakest difference in match point ratio, they will have to bowl in the A2 class next season. Sarnthein, however, saved itself with a win against its direct competitor Nals.

In the game between Schlanders and Pfalzen it was only about something for the guests, as Schlanders had already been at the bottom of the table for several match days. Nevertheless, the Vinschgers wanted to say goodbye with a satisfactory performance and didn't make it easy for the bowlers from Palatinate. In the first duel, Schlanders wrote directly. Ivo Verdross left Wilhelm Oberparleiter behind with a strong 575 wood. Pfalzen immediately equalized when Andreas Bodner brought Manfred Reinalter to his knees with a score of 568:556.

Hannes Kaiser overturned the game against Hannes Pichler with the day's best performance of 603 wood and put Pfalzen on the winning path for the first time. But that changed again immediately. Egon Staffler and Werner Gruber gave way to Fabian Tschafeller and Oswald Weger from Palatinate, so Schlanders was back in front. Last but not least, Robert Larcher equalized again against Martin Gruber, so that all eyes were on the overall score. Pfalzen led with 3331:3307 and secured a win at the end.

But that wasn't enough to stay in the league. Both Sarnthein and Nals have the same number of points, but both have the better match point ratio, which counts as a second instance. In the direct meeting between the two teams on the last match day, Sarnthein prevailed, which was decisive in the end, otherwise they would have been in second place with only 12 points.

The race for third place behind series champion Neumarkt and series runner-up Fugger Sterzing was also exciting. Kurtatsch got it in the end. The Unterlandlers defeated Lana 3:5, drew level with Algund and, thanks to the better match point ratio, overtook the Burggräflers.

Kiens swallows the bitter pill The relegation battle for the women was also extremely exciting right up to the last match day. Jaufenburg, Verdings and Kiens fought to stay in the league, while Deutschnofen was already relegated.

In the last game of the season, all three relegation candidates had to admit defeat, so Kiens had to go into the B class with 3 points - one less than Jaufenburg and Verdings.

The women from Kiens have been relegated to the B class.

The Pusterers lost clearly against Plose with 1:5. Only Sandra Santer was able to register for her team. She brought Erna Obexer to her knees in the first duel with 520:480. Jasmin Santer, Sarah Hirber and Sonja Fischer then lost their duels against Petra Stockner, Annemarie Prenn and Annelies Gritsch - the defeat was as good as sealed. Bitter, because with a victory Kiens would have been saved.

This is because both Jaufenburg and Verdings lost their games on the last matchday. Jaufenburg had the most difficult program because the Passeirians had to play against champions Fugger Sterzing in the Bliegerstadion. And the series winners of the A class did not show any weakness: the team led by the outstanding Gabriele Bürger defeated Jaufenburg with a score of 5:1 - she exceeded the magical mark of the day with 606 wood.

Verdings' defeat was less clear. They lost away against Passeier 2:4. Heidi Hofer and Doris Libardi scored points for Passeir against Karin Hasler and Annamaria Unterfrauner, while Nadia Unterfrauner and Verena Peer scored for Verdings against Waltraud Haller and Ulrike Königsrainer. This meant that the overall score was decisive and Passeier was in the lead with 18 pins. 2114:2096 wood were on the scoreboard at the end.

These are the other newcomers For the men, Ratschings I and Naturns secured their ticket for the A2 in the A1 class. In the B classes Radein (East) and Naturns II (West) prevailed, in the C classes the champions are Fugger Sterzing II (East), Jaufenburg (West) and Nals II (South).

The state league champion is called Pfalzen Pfalzen Haunoldriesen was crowned champion in the final of the state league. Against Jenesien III, the Pusterers made a real effort and won outstandingly 6-0. With an average of 543, the Palatinate team was clearly superior to the team from Salten (average of 476).
