Pier Giulio Paglierani is one of the greatest climbing talents in South Tyrol.

The best boulderers come to Brixen.

The top bouldering event of the year takes place on March 7th and 8th at Vertikale in Brixen: the Italian Bouldering Championships. Only the very best will compete for the title here.

Seven South Tyroleans are also taking part: Filip Schenk, Pier Giulio Paglierani, Johannes Egger, Emma Benazzi, Leonie Hofer, Matilda Liù Moar and Bettina Dorfmann are competing – with good chances of achieving top placements.

The competition calendar in sport climbing is packed – almost every weekend from the beginning of February to the end of September features competitions in the various disciplines (bouldering, lead, speed) across different age categories. At the regional level, athletes qualify for national competitions (Italian Cup – 3 stages; Italian Championships – 1 stage) and ultimately for the European and World Cups, or European and World Championships. The premier national bouldering event, the Italian Championships, takes place on March 7th and 8th at the Vertikale climbing center in Brixen.

Seven South Tyrolean athletes have qualified for this event, all of whom have already won medals in higher categories. We would like to briefly introduce them:

Filip Schenk (26)
From Val Gardena, he has been participating in international competitions since 2014. He is now a regular member of the Italian World Cup national team. He recently made headlines with his ascent of the climbing route "Erebor (9b)," one of the hardest lines in Italy. His ultimate goal is the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Matilda Liú Moar (19)
The climber from Brixen is in top form. She has consistently impressed with her performance in recent competitions, often finishing in the medal positions. Most recently, at the Italian Cup in bouldering in Cuneo, she narrowly missed the podium by just 0,1 points.

Leonie Hofer (19)
The climber from St. Leonhard in Passeier has already made a name for herself in the climbing world. She regularly demonstrated outstanding performances at various national and international competitions.

Leonie Hofer is competing in the Italian Championships.

Emma Benazzi (18)
Like her two teammates, the athlete from Merano is supported by the South Tyrolean Sports Aid Foundation. She too has consistently delivered strong performances in competitions.
Bettina Dorfmann (18) from Brixen is also a regular member of the Italian youth national team and is showing improving form. Her performance is eagerly anticipated.

Pier Giulio Paglierani (15)
He competes for AVS Meran and is one of the greatest climbing talents in South Tyrol. Although only 15 years old, he is the reigning regional champion in bouldering, and his performance at the Italian Championships is also highly anticipated.

Johannes Egger (23) He competes for AVS Bruneck and was a long-time member of the Italian national team. He is a very interesting athlete who could certainly spring a surprise.
