Paraclimbing Italian Cup: Two medals for South Tyroleans

The third Italian Cup in paraclimbing took place in Rome over the weekend. Both South Tyrolean athletes – David Kammerer and Florian Mutschlechner – won medals in their respective categories and will participate in World Cup competitions in the coming weeks.

David Kammerer continued his winning streak in Rome, taking gold in the third Italian Cup competition of the season. This makes the AVS athlete the overall winner of his category (AL2) in the Italian Paraclimbing Cup. "Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reach the top with both hands in the final – I managed it in the qualification and semi-final," Kammerer lamented.

The ambitious para-climber will compete against the world's best para-climbers in Salt Lake City on May 15th and 16th: This is the first World Cup event of the season.

Mutschlechner also strong

Florian Mutschlechner also achieved a top result – the silver medal – in his category (AL1). The competition in this category remained exciting until the very end. In the final, Mutschlechner scored the same number of points as the category winner, Mirco Bressanelli – Bressanelli's superior performance in the qualification round ultimately determined the final ranking. Motivated by his strong results, Mutschlechner will now prepare for the Paraclimbing World Cup in Innsbruck on June 15th and 16th.
