Ahtletic Club shines at the regional championship in Bolzano

409 athletes from a total of 24 different teams, 14 from South Tyrol and ten from Trentino, were registered for the club regional championship at the CONI facility in Haslach on Saturday and Sunday. The main focus belonged to the men from Athletic Club 96, who secured the “Scudetto” for the third time just last year. In Haslach, the people of Bolzano underlined their high ambitions: After the regional championship, Bruno Telchini's club has 12.998 points in 14 competitions. Participation in the “Oro” final on June 10th and 11th in Palermo is not yet certain, as it requires a total of 15.000 points, but that is in 18 ranked competitions. Behind Quercia Rovereto (11.652) and Lagarina Crus Team (10.459), the Bolzano club CSS Leonardo da Vinci also recorded a top result with 9.761 points. The ladies from SV Lana were also able to impress (10.357), SG Eisacktal got 9.052 points. Italian champions Athletic Club Bozen didn't show up in full, but the people of Talferstadt still had a great weekend. Sprinter Lorenzo Ianes presented himself strongly, holding his own over 100 and 200 m in 10.40 and 21.08 seconds respectively. Abdessalam Machmach from Bolzano shone in his parade discipline over 800 m (1:52.68 minutes). The star in Haslach was the Tunisian Mohamed Amin Jhinaoui, who won the 3000 m steeplechase in 8:41.73 minutes (1.014 points). The Bolzano pole vaulter Nicolò Fusaro crossed 5.00 m, Gianluca Tamberi won the javelin throw with 64.28 m ahead of Hubert Göller (59.06). From a South Tyrolean perspective, Marie Burger from Vahrn also impressed over 200 m with 24.59 seconds. In the 100 m hurdles, the flagship of SSV Brixen shone with 14.18 seconds. Petra Nardelli from Eggen won the 400 m competition with a good time of 54.90 seconds. Bruneck sprinter Ira Harrasser timed the 100 m in 12.37 seconds. Pole vault ace Nathalie Kofler from Lana crossed 4.05 m, Mariia Yelanska from SC Meran won the triple jump with 12.45 m. The Burgstall all-rounder Linda Maria Pircher reached 11.74 m in the shot put, the Brixen hammer thrower Lara Cubich achieved 37.23 m. Walker Sara Buglisi from Meran came second over 5 km in 24:14.90 minutes. In the 400 m hurdles, Simon Zandarco from SV Lana impressed (54.38 seconds), and high jumper Mattia Meneghini (2.03 m) from CSS Leonardo da Vinci also showed a decent performance.
