Mountain runners conquer Ötzi Peak
On Thursday, the first edition of the Schnalstal Alpine Trail kicked off with the Vertical Race in the Schnals Alpin Arena. The 7,6-kilometer race ran from Kurzras (2.011 m) to the platform on the Iceman Ötzi Peak (3.251 m) on the Schnalstal Glacier.

In 5-degree weather and low-hanging clouds, the participants mastered 1.252 meters of elevation. In the men's race, Samuel Demetz prevailed after a thrilling duel against Andreas Reiterer (1:09.05 hours). Third place in the field of 50 starters went to Dane Nikolaj Dam.
In the women's race, this summer's serial winner, Severine Petersen, won in an outstanding time of 1:27.12 hours, followed by Miriam Wiedmer and Fabienne Pfitzenmaier.

On Saturday, the Ultra, Sky and Speed competitions will take place in Schnals, with start and finish in Unser Frau.
