Mountain race in a dreamlike setting: Felderer and Rigo win

Steep, challenging and yet open to everyone: The Uphill Bozen–Jenesien mountain run has once again attracted numerous running enthusiasts to Jenesien this year.

The popular event combined ambitious competitive sport with an open, just-for-fun format, resulting in strong sporting performances as well as great enthusiasm along the route.

The race started at the valley station of the Bolzano cable car. Participants had to climb 785 meters in altitude over a distance of approximately 4 kilometers. Right at the beginning, they faced one of the steepest asphalt sections in Europe: the road to Rafenstein Castle. The course then continued along paved sections, through forests and meadows, to the finish line in the village square of Jenesien. The final climb up the steps below the church demanded everything the runners had left in the bag.

Even amateur runners can prove themselves.

In addition to the official timed competition, numerous hobby runners also took part in the Just-for-Fun run – without pressure to perform, but with the same impressive backdrop and sporting challenge.
The Soltnflitzer organizing team ensured a smooth event and a welcoming atmosphere once again this year. An attractive starter pack with regional products and high-quality, locally produced prizes for the top finishers rounded off the event.
