The Ratschings Trail event has already established itself

Armin Larch set a new course record on the slightly shorter Ratschings Mountain Trail (17,7 km/950 hm), while Margit Siller from Mühlen in Taufers won the women's race. A total of over 500 mountain athletes took part in the popular trail event in the Ratschings/Jaufen ski and hiking area, which was held for the first time in 2021.

As expected, there was a duel between last year's winners at the Ratschings Sky Trail: defending champion Lukas Mangger (Ridnaun/Dynafit Team-Running Club ASV Freienfeld) and Andreas Innerebner (ASC LF Sarntal Raiffeisen), successful on the shorter route of the Ratschings Mountain Trail in 2022, fought it out thrilling duel. The duo actually stayed together until the 20-kilometer mark before Innerebner was able to pull away a bit. Because the 43-year-old from Durnholz subsequently got lost, he had to catch up with Mangger again in the last few kilometers before he shook off the top favorite again and was the first to cross the finish line at the Rinneralm after 2:41.36 hours.

Mangger crossed the finish line in second place, around a minute behind Innerebner, while Stefan Ungericht (Mountain Shop Tubris) from Ahrntal completed the podium with a time of 2:48.53 hours. Robert Oberhollenzer (Teldra Renna/3:2), Manuel Ebert (Tiroler Radler Bozen/53.05:2), and the German Johannes Ostfalk (Lowa ATR Team/58.04: 2) and Frowin Stecher (Sport Tenne/58.48:2).

Sieder like last year with a start-to-finish victory Like last year, Claudia Sieder from Sand in Taufers won the women's race. The 35-year-old - fourth on the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Trail on Friday - completed the 27,7 kilometers with 1610 meters of altitude on the Ratschings Sky Trail in 3:25.45 hours. For the defending champion of the LC Pustertal, who works as a fitness trainer, it was another start-finish victory, for which the former mountain biker laid the foundation in the early stages.

As in 2022, second place went to Edeltraud Thaler, the grand dame of the South Tyrolean mountain running scene. For the 57-year-old from Lana, the stopwatch stopped after 3:35.18 hours, meaning Thaler was two minutes faster than last year. Meanwhile, Laura Hofer took third place (3:43.06).

Larch wins with a new course record At the Ratschings Mountain Trail, local hero Armin Larch (Team LaSportiva) celebrated an unchallenged start-to-finish victory and set a new course record in 17,7:950 hours on the 1 kilometer long route with 22.48 meters of elevation gain. At the Klammalm and after around 8 kilometers, the 25-year-old from Mareit had already gained a lead of three minutes over his worst opponents, but was five seconds ahead of his record. In the end, however, Larch was seven seconds faster than when he triumphed at the premiere of the Wipptaler Tail event in 2021 - even though he was still 15 seconds above his own record four and a half kilometers from the finish.

In the duel for second place, Martin Griesser (ASV Freienfeld running club/1:27.18) prevailed, overtaking and shaking off Giacomo Spinelli (Skialp Race Ahrntal/1:28.32), who comes from Varese but now lives in Bruneck, on the second part of the route. Margit Siller from Mühlen in Taufers surprisingly won the women's race. The 42-year-old finished the Ratschings Mountain Trail after 1:57.28 hours and relegated South Tyrolean Manuela Beer (SG Eisacktal Raiffeisen ASV/1:58.18) and former biathlete Jasmin Volgger (Skialp Gossensaß/1:59.33) to the places of honor .

The relays and the mini trail are fixed points in the program The fastest relay time on the Ratschings Mountain Trail was achieved by Simon Lantschner and Greta Haselrieder as a mixed team “The running gag 1”. For her, the stopwatch stopped after 1:33.45 hours. Kosmas Mayr-Klammer and Lukas Oberhofer (Tue 2 gimietlichn 1/1:36.08) completed the popular Wipptaler Trail as the fastest men's relay team, while Julia Kuen and Jana Steger (Jumpingkängurus 1) emerged as the strongest women's team in 1:47.01 hours. The Mini Trail for children and young people, which almost 100 young athletes tackled, has become an integral part of the Ratschings Mountain Trails program.

The organizers led by OC boss Hanspeter Schölzhorn were able to take stock of the third edition of the Ratschings Mountain Trails with satisfaction: “We saw two extremely exciting races on the two routes, which fortunately took place without any serious injuries. The beautiful weather obviously played into our hands and is half the battle at an outdoor event like ours. We again received compliments from all sides for the smooth process and good organization. A praise that makes us very happy and that I would like to pass on immediately to the entire OK team and our more than 100 helpers. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your great effort. A big thank you also goes to our many partners and sponsors, without whose financial support such a race would not be possible. We are looking forward to the 4th edition of the Ratschings Mountain Trails, which will take place on Sunday, June 16, 2024.”

The voices of the winners: Andreas Innerebner (winner Ratschings Sky Trail): “Lukas (Mangger, editor's note) and I ran almost the entire race together, so a big compliment to him too. Recently he ran out of strength a bit and I took advantage of that. I got lost on the final part despite the perfect markings, but that happens to me almost every race. That's why I had to catch up with Lukas and then definitely pass him. Of course I am very happy about the success. A big compliment to the organizers for the really great organization.”

Claudia Sieder (winner of Ratschings Sky Trail): “It was really tough today. I didn't think I would suffer so much. But overall it went well. I knew I was ahead and that's why I slowed down a little in the final part. It was cool as always.”

Armin Larch (winner Ratschings Mountain Trail): “This year I focused on vertical racing. Nevertheless, I wanted to take part in my home race today. I actually went at my own pace right from the start and was able to gain a bit of a lead on the flats. Of course, I'm even happier that it was enough to set the course record in the end. Now my focus is on the Vertical European Championships, which will take place in a month.”

Margit Siller (winner of Ratschings Mountain Trail): “I started today for the first time and I was completely surprised that I won. The route is great, the organization is a dream.
