Everything is ready for the Stettinger Cup.

The classic mountain run is calling – and the best are coming.

Few weekends in mountain running are as packed as the first in August. This makes the starting list for the Stettiner Cup all the more remarkable. With Armin Larch, Samuel Demetz, Andrea Schweigkofler, Anna Santini, and numerous other top athletes, the classic mountain race in Moos in Passeier on Sunday, August 2nd, awaits one of the strongest fields of participants in its 27-year history.

Since 2021, Armin Larch has been virtually unstoppable at the Stettiner Cup. The rider from Mareit has won four of the last five editions. Only in 2023 did another athlete, Hannes Perkmann, stand atop the podium – Larch wasn't competing that year. Now everyone is eager to see if the 28-year-old can celebrate his fifth victory this year. That would make Armin Larch the sole record holder at this classic race in the upper Passeier Valley.

Larch's toughest rival is likely to be Samuel Demetz. The young runner from Val Gardena was hot on his heels in 2025, finishing third behind Andreas Innerebner. Demetz arrives in Moos in top form. At the end of June, he took second place at the Ratschings Mountain Trail, only being beaten by Andreas Innerebner, just as he was at last year's Stettin Cup. Other top runners at the Stettin Cup include Luca Boninsegna, Armin Gögele, and the German Christoph Steinmüller.

Andrea Schweigkofler is aiming for the triple.

All eyes are on Andrea Schweigkofler in the women's race. The Merano native has won the last two editions and is now aiming for a hat trick. However, her teammate Anna Lena Hofer, the 2023 winner, will also be on the starting line. Top Trentino runner Anna Santini, Heidi Pfeifer from Naturns, and German mountain runner Johanna Steinmüller add further quality to the women's race.

The grande dame of South Tyrolean mountain running, Edeltraud Thaler, is a must-see at the Stettin Cup. She returns to one of her favorite courses. The event's record holder has already triumphed five times. Her last victory in this classic race was twelve years ago. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her first win in 2006.

A mountain race with a unique character

The real stars of the Stettiner Cup are all the endurance athletes who take on the challenges. It's no coincidence that so many runners return year after year. The demanding course, the high-alpine scenery around the Stettiner Hütte mountain hut, and the friendly atmosphere have made this mountain race a fixture on the South Tyrolean mountain running calendar for years.

"Preparations are largely complete. With 172 registered participants so far, we're on par with previous years. Several dozen more are expected in the coming days, as the weather forecast is excellent. We're looking forward to an exciting race and, of course, the after-race party at the Stettiner Hütte, where we'll toast to a successful day," concluded the organizing Moos Mountain Rescue team.
