The Potato Run is casting its shadow ahead.

The countdown is on: In one month, the starting gun will fire for the South Tyrolean Potato Run. The flat course promises fast times, the number of participants is already impressive – and this year, a finisher's medal awaits, the second in a five-year collection series.

Just one month separates running enthusiasts from the start of the Potato Run. On August 29th, the Puster Valley will once again transform into a stage for one of South Tyrol's most popular road running events. Already, 750 athletes have registered – a strong indication of the high level of anticipation for the South Tyrolean Potato Run.

“With 750 registrations one month before the start, we are in a very good position. This shows that the Potato Run has long enjoyed an excellent reputation far beyond the borders of the state. We are looking forward to a top-class field of participants and to many running enthusiasts who want to experience a special day of sport with us,” says organizing committee head Rudi Stolzlechner.

One of the fastest running routes in South Tyrol

The 17,6-kilometer route from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers, with only 60 meters of elevation gain, is one of the fastest running routes in South Tyrol. Accordingly, the Potato Run is popular with ambitious amateur runners who want to test their fitness for a half marathon or marathon in the fall. At the same time, the flat course also offers ideal conditions for beginners to experience a personal success. This is also because the Potato Run can potentially be run as a relay.

The special finisher's medal provides an extra incentive once again. Since last year, all participants have received a medal, part of a five-year collector's series. Each medal has its own unique design – only together do the five medals form a large, cohesive image, accompanying the Potato Run on its journey to its 30th anniversary. This makes every participation not only a sporting achievement but also a special one for collectors.

Free at Speikboden or Klausberg

Even away from the racecourse, participants can expect an attractive added benefit. Thanks to the support of Skiworld Ahrntal, all runners – including children – can ride the cable car to Speikboden or Klausberg free of charge the day after the race upon presentation of their race number and round off their sporting day with a mountain experience. "On behalf of our team, I would like to sincerely thank Skiworld Ahrntal for this partnership," said Stolzlechner.

Anyone wanting to secure their starting place shouldn't wait too much longer. The countdown is on – and in exactly one month, it's time again for the Potato Run to begin.
